lash FAQ

  • A lash lift is a chemical process that is used to change the structure and texture of the lashes. Depending on the size of the shield used, the lashes can be lifted more or less dramatically.

  • LVL simply stands for Length, Volume and Lift and is phrase adopted by the brand Nouveau lashes, who sell solutions which enable qualified experts to offer Lash lifts. At Neikid we use Elleebana, instead of Nouveau, to perform our lash lifts as we believe this brand to be a superior product when it comes to this treatment.

  • Eyelash Lift & Tint is NOT recommended for the following clients:

    • Pregnant and in the first trimester. After this time the treatment is considered safe but not before, so if you find out you are pregnant please contact us and we will re-schedule you.

    • Pre-existing eye(lid) conditions such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and ocular rosacea

    • Laser surgery (wait a minimum of 6 months from your procedure)

    • Suffer from Trichotillomania (compulsive pulling or twisting hair, eyebrows and eyelashes)

    • Undergoing chemo treatments or have had chemo treatments within the past year (recommend to consult with your physician)

  • No. Properly trained and skilled professionals ensure proper lash lift procedures are followed.

  • Approximately 60 minutes depends on how long and coarse the eyelashes are and if you require your make-up to be removed.

  • A lash lift and tint can last anywhere between 6 to 8 weeks. Results may vary from client to client depending their lash growth cycle. There are some situations that may cause the lift to drop/weaken prematurely such as swimming, use off harsh products or heat. If you find that your lift does not last the full 2 months, you can repeat the treatment after a minimum of 4 weeks of having the initial treatment, but not before.

  • A lash lift will begin to naturally drop after about 2 months and your lashes will be back to their natural look. The lashes should drop evenly and will not look out of place. You can repeat the treatment after a minimum of one month if you feel you need to, or you can wait until they are back to their natural state.

  • Yes! You may however find that there is no need for mascara but if you wish to make your lashes even fuller, a non-waterproof mascara is advised as the chemicals used in waterproof mascaras can cause a drying effect on the lashes.

  • No. There will be no need for an eyelash curler as this treatment gives a much better result than using a curler, But more importantly, using one may weaken and damage your lashes.

  • Gently, using mild products. We recommend oil based eye make-up removers as these require minimal rubbing.  Always wait 24 hours after your procedure to clean your lashes.

brow FAQ

  • Brow lamination is a treatment that allows us to manipulate the brow hairs into a new desired position, thus giving the brows height, length + volume. Creating a brighter, fuller and more shapely look. Brow tints and shaping often accompany this procedure. The tint darkens the natural brow hairs and may be implemented on its own, without a lift.

  • Brow 'classic' tint is what most beauticians have been using for years to temporarily stain the brow hair, more recently however henna had been used as an alternative to tint, as it lasts far longer and also has the ability to stain the skin, which is an advantage for those with sparse brows. This treatment however this can be too 'severe' for some, so now there are products available which are a hybrid between a classic tint and henna, which last for up to 7 days on the skin and up to 12 weeks on the hair - this is what we call brow 'dye' as opposed to brow 'tint'.

  • Following your treatment, the results should last for up to 6 weeks. Your stylist will provide aftercare advice, to help you maintain your fresh brows.

  • A brow lift will not damage your natural brows if applied correctly. The lifting solutions when applied are specifically timed for your hair type and consistency. Additionally, the brows receive a deep nourishing treatment which will add nutrients and strengthen them.

  • Yes, anyone with these types of brows will love this lift! Your brow hairs will be evenly dispersed, lifted and shaped.

  • Brow lift is safe for pregnant or breast feeding women after the first trimester. However due to the change in hormones, pregnant clients may experience less of a lift than usual. The results vary. If you are uncertain consult with your physician.

  • People who have blepharitis, a stye, conjunctivitis, any active eye infection, or cystic acne and is currently on medication for this cannot have a brow lift performed.

  • We do all that we can to ensure that the process is as comfortable as possible and often clients say they feel no pain at all, although please be aware that everyone’s pain threshold varies.

Before the Microblading treatment begins, a topical anesthetic is applied to the area to minimize discomfort.  Some clients may feel a slight discomfort which has been described as a light cat scratch, while many say it is relatively pain free. After the procedure, slight redness and slight swelling in the area is normal.

(PLEASE NOTE that if you are a frequent smoker, or have your appointment during your menstrual cycle, the pain level could be intensified.)

  • We will start by drawing / mapping the outline of your brow with a cosmetic pencil, based on the specific measurements of your face.  You will have a chance to see and approve this shape before the treatment takes place.  We will also discuss and agree the pigment shade, at this time the topical anesthetic is applied and the process will begin once the numbing has taken place. We always use a disposable tool and create the strokes by going in the same direction of your natural hair. It is typical that we will need to go over each stroke twice to ensure the pigment is placed correctly under the skin but depending on your skin type we may be required to do this more than twice to prevent the strokes from disappearing during the healing process.

  • Technically, semi-permanent micro-pigmentation is considered permanent because the colour is implanted into the upper dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, the pigment is implanted more superficially than a traditional tattoo, so it naturally fades over time, which is beneficial in the long run as your tone and face shape will also alter over time so your treatment can be adapted to suit your face.

  • The process will take around 3 hours and the majority of this time will be spent mapping your ideal shape and ensuring the brows are symmetrical.  The anesthetic also takes time to numb the area.  The actual process of creating the individual hair strokes should take around 1 hour.

  • The pigment is chosen on the day to match the natural eyebrow colour and your skin tone.  The shape is measured based on your own unique features so no two pairs of brows are exactly the same. If you have a preferred shape in mind then please bring photos or feel free to come with your brows made-up as you would usually wear them and we will use this as a guide.

  • During the first 4 weeks you will lose up to 10 to 15 % of the drawn strokes as the skin takes time to settle. We recommend a touch up appointment 6-10 weeks after your first appointment, so that we can add any strokes which have faded and make any adjustments to the shape and colour if requested.

  • You must avoid working out for 7 days after your appointment.  Light exercise is allowed, however, you should be aware that salt will fade the pigment very quickly and lead to poor results, therefore sweating should always be avoided.
